i think it stops when u stop listening to music all day long and learning the words.
I can do it pretty good for the 50s,60s, and 70s, and then i got into country music and i can do it for an awful lot of these songs for the 90s and today
i do LOVE my music, it soothes the savage beast u know

I dont think its the decade you were born in, although I do think the decade you were born in is the one you can relate to easiest. I was born in the mid 80's and can do that for most songs from the 70's. Ofcourse I can do that for the 80's and 90's, but that might be because I think all the best music was from the 80's to early 90's. As for the other part, Im only 21 so I cant answer that question, but it might be because you havent heard the song in a long time. Its like going back and doing math when you havent done it since high school.

Good Q:? Three River!
I can say that I can pick-up on a song and name it for most of the 60's, 70s' 80s, and early 90s. after that, I am lost. I'm 47, and although I like a lot of this generations music, I often ask my kids or Nieces and Nephews "What's this song, and who sings/play it"? I soon forget.
3- notes can play of a song of the 70s 80s, or 60s, and I know it.
The one thing I was worried about as I got older, is if I would still like Pink Floyd, Ozzie, Foreigner, Heart, ...to name a few of my favorites...or,.....would I like the Lawerence Welk stuff. Thank goodness I still can rock, and although I've lost my essence of being cool, I'm still forever a Rocker!
ANSWER: 3 DECADES and it seemed to have stopped when I got close to 40.
Shah-ka-brah! Rock Steady,.....too hip, gotta go!

I had a boss in the Seattle/Tacoma area who used to challenge me by turning the FM radio to 107.9 and going left through ALL the stations. He would then record my answers, which had to be given in five seconds, as to who the band/artist was and title of the song. I batted a walloping 85% for the whole dial for two months.
Guess being a karaoke host has some advantages.

I'm REALLY good with 60's music..... very good with 70's music, somewhat good with 80's music and so so on 90's music... after that the stuff kind of stopped being music to me...once they started with this rap and junk with vulgar language in them, I stopped listening to the current stuff

I'm still doing it. I love music and sometimes tell my kids of some new artists. Then they tell me of something that I haven't heard. It's great and I am 53 yea holy crap.
