You just have to find one that feels comfortable for you. You can try http://www.theechatmansion.com Its free and friendly. Monitored for content. Once you find one you like make some friends and hang out. It can be enjoyable, but you have to look around

I don't feel dirty from a clean chat room, it's when people are doing sex chat or sex jokes that I don't like. There are some real creeps in the rooms, but then I've run into a few nice people in there, too.

Not in a chat room with my friends, but one time I accidentally got into a chat room with a bunch of random people and it scared me. I dont think I felt "dirty" just scared.

I don't go into them .. i used to but didnt feel anything like you are .. i think it must just be the view you have of them ..

Part of it is the stigma & reputation that's been attached to chat over the years as a playground for sexual players and future guests of the Jerry Springer show.
I guess the other reason is that I tend to do it naked. lol

I haven't been in one for SO long! Years ago, I would hang out in them for hours, kinda like I do YA! But no, I never felt dirty or disgusting.
