Depending on the conditions you keep your goldfish, the goldfish can change colors. Check lighting, water and temperature conditions. Also keep in mind that you should feed your fish a well balanced NUTRICION. Staying only on one type of food might just not be enough to supply the fish with the necessary substances that mantain its color bright and shiny.

It's probably quite normal. A lot of goldfish have black spots/areas on them. These often grow as the fish ages.(Extreme example is the [black] moor.) Just do normal water changes, and give him a healthy diet.
Worst case is that the fish has a desease... if so, let nature take its course.
BTW, goldfish can easily live for 20 years more with care.

I wouldn't worry. Try that pea thing if you want (I've seen that on a few of the Yahoo answers pages today), but some golfish just have black undertones, and ALL fish change colors from time to time, depending on mood and stress levels. I'd say he's just going through a "black phase". He'll be ok.

Hes probablly sick and theres one cure that works 99.999% of the time on goldfish, you have to get them to eat the pulp of a pea. This is proven to work so you should try it, good luck

Goldfish occasionally die from natural causes, and I have heard that President Bush will let your dead goldfish lay in state in the White House if you promise to vote for his slightly more stupid brother Jeb Bush. Anything to steal a vote.

Umm... he might be dying but I'm not an expert. Goldfish don't last that long so it just might be his time to go. You could take him to a vet but that can be expensive.

Tatyana is not a vet.
Now do you mean literally turning black or is he just saying "Yo, know what I'm sayin'" and putting his fins on his crotch a lot?
