Here is your best answer.........
Have you ever seen what a crashed vette looks like in the end?
No way in hell would I ever consider letting my teenager drive a vette.

I own a 2002 vette and a 16 year old boy. The two items are far too dangerous and unpredictable to mix together safely. The only way I would ever consider letting the kid drive this car is to have me in the bucket seat next to his. Even if you manage to tone down the power, the kid will find a way to speed around. This car is far too much vehicle for a teen and you will end up wrecking the vehicle or your son or someone else. I wrote this answer with my wife and son next to me....they completely agree and think you are a fruitcake to even consider letting a teen get behind the wheel of this machine.

First time I ever heard a Corvette owner say they wanted LESS horsepower...congrats.
Only thing I can think of with out modifying the computer is to put a much stiffer throttle return spring on the throttle linkage--one that will make you push real hard to get the throttle to move and may keep him from flooring it so easily. You may have to play with different ones to get one to feel right. And possibly, fabricate a throttle stop so that you can't go wide open on it and it will reduce the power the engine makes to a certain extant.

A few ways:
1. Keep the Vette for yourself, give the kid a different car.
2. Give him the car, but put a chip in there to monitor his speed (it will alert you if he goes over a certain speed)
3. Go to your dealership and ask if they can put in a speed sensor that will cut off power to a car if he drives too erratically or too fast

Your best option is to not let him drive it without you in the vehicle.
If you want to let him have some freedom, you can buy any of the tuning software packages (LS1 edit, HP tuners) and you can electronically limit the speed and RPM of the motor. But you will need to reprogram for every time you want to change the driver.

I would reconsider the entire thought process before letting this happen....but if you must, call MSD and have them make you a chip that cuts the rpm in any gear ( auto or stick ) at 1200 rpm....

I think such sport car is not a very good idea to be driven by a kid. buy him a bicycle or honda civic. i had 1990 honda civic before. and it gives pretty much feeling of not getting away from me :) it was 1.6 engine with AT.

Yes there is! You ride with him every time he goes out in it!!! Or you can pull 2 sparkplug wires off and keep them while he drives it

You could just get a speed monitor device and tell him if he speeds you will know and he cant drive it anymore.
