The Brake light is for more then just the E-brake. Like everyone has said you may have low brake fluid. the light often comes on because of low pressure in the braking system. you could also have air in the lines. if adding more fluid does not cause the light to stay off then you need to have your brake services as soon as possible, don't wait on something like this. not being able to stop is the more terrifying thing. Safety first.

What type of vehicle--make, model, year? Could be the e-brake is loose enough to contact the switch when braking and set off the light or the e-brake switch needs to be adjusted. Make sure the light is for the e-brake and not a brake system warning light as the fluid level may be low in the master cylinder for that to go off.

I would check the level of the brake fluid first. It may seem to be at the FULL mark, but just add an ounce or so and you should be good to go. However, low brake fluid could also be a sign that your brakes need to be serviced too. Check/fill your fluid first and if it doesn't go away, then check your brakes.

verify the rear wreck pads, they maximum in all risk want replaced.. interior the 1993 ford taurus and a number of different form years while the rear brakes (exceptionally rear discs) are severly worn down the Emergency brake indicator mild (parking mild) will come on while braking.. it is via the area of the caliper which could close farther while brake pads are heavily worn down and it places a tender tension on the emergency brake cable consequently inflicting the sensor to holiday the Emergency brake indicator mild. The tension isn't plenty and wont injury the emergency brake cable despite if it is purely sufficient tension to set off off the indicator mild... Contray to the above posters assertion "there is not any such ingredient as a "parking" brake."" it is carefully fake...automobiles are equiped with an EMERGENCY BRAKE and an EMERGENCY BRAKE indicator mild on the tool cluster many times the indicator mild as a results of fact the letter (P). The Emergency brake is many times refered to has a parking wreck..

SAME THING WAS HAPPENING TO ME!!!
I went to BrakeMasters and found out MY RIGHT BRAKE PAD WAS COMPLETE GONE AS WELL AS MY BOOTS AND DRUMS!!!
If your e brake light is turning on during braking or even randomly GET IT INSPECTED!!!
It could be something simple like a bad switch or it could mean your brakes may fail at anytime!!!
BrakeMasters does free inspections. It only takes about 15 minutes and it could save your car or even your life. Trust me!
Also don't have BrakeMasters do your brakes cause I'm having my fixed by a friend and the parts are 280 (120 for just my front) They quoated me at 1,058!! Way over priced just use their free inspection. hahah

Have you checked your brake fluid level? A low quantity sometimes causes the lamp to light - it did on my Ford Fiesta car
