I'm currently reading a book called He's Just Not That Into You, and the author repeatingly states that "men don't like to be pursued by women." "If the guy doesn't make the effort then he's just not that into you." Is this TRUE??? In your opinion of course.

(I thought it boosts a guys ego to have a woman make the first move!)

WOW! What a mix of answers. I believe The Sylvan Wizard makes a good point though.

All you have to do is sit and watch some Discovery Channel or National Geographic Nature programs a few times, and get a clue.

You'll never see a Lioness chasing after Male Lion, or a Cow Elephant chasing after a Bull Elephant. Not one Female chases after a male or pursues them for courting rituals for mating, breeding, or companionship.

Females get to say yes or no to the guy whom comes a' knockin'.

Men are not different from any other mammal. If a gal responds to interests made by a man, then this is obviously normal. However; a guy that needs to be pursued by a Female is dangerous to the gene pool, and if the gal lands him, she may find over time that he has way to many Estrogen Hormones, or the Female has way to many Testosterone Hormones.

Either way, one of em' will come out of the closet sooner or later, and say they are Gay.

To answer your Q:?,...yes, it's true! A guy whom does not show interest to a gal either by not pursuing, or not responding favorably to a gal trying to do the pursuing is NOT into the gal. It's best one takes a hint.

It depends on the woman and how she does it. Alot of time men like someone but it takes time to work up the courage to talk to her. If she acts like a stalker and crazy no guy would like that. and yes it does give an ego boost mostly because it makes us think that this women thinks im so atractive and she dosnt want to wait for me to ask her out.

Depends on the guy also

It depends on the age of the guy. Younger guys, as a rule, tend to enjoy the thrill of pursuit and capture. That is why they often dump girls after they have made their conquest; they have to go right on to the next conquest.

More mature men still enjoy the thrill of pursuit, but they also know to appreciate a woman willing to make the first move.

The trick is to play a cat-and-mouse game. Make him think you are not interested - maybe even that you hate him. This could spark his interest - it would be a challenge. Be approachable, but coy.

Anyway, I have seen it work that way.

That's a load of bull-pellets. I think that book, and so many others, does more to muddle communication and promote "game-playing" (and not the good kind) than help improve relationships.

Sorry, but I am all for being completely open and honest about your feelings at ALL times. If you like someone (or you don't), let them know!

Truth is there is no harm in her making a move. Unfortunately we aren't looking for fairytale endings. There is no such thing as love at first sight. And we're probably just gonna hit it an forget it. Men are pigs.

Pursuing and being interested in someone are two different things. Pursuing denotes "stalking". You can be "interested" in someone and not make them feel like they are being pursued. Just think about how you would feel if you were them.

I agree with you not the book. The lady needs to be a little agressive anyway or it wont click. Cheers.
