This is easy enough to do chris,the technology and hardware are readily avalible,and the software can be downloaded

then there is the question of the software,some webcams bundle software with the hardware however these are rarely of any use
there is a excellent peice of software called TrackerCam 3.03(http://www.download.com/TrackerCam/3000-2348_4-10129491.html?tag=lst-0-2),it basically tracks movement and sound,and would be a ideal software solution for your new webcam

i think it will be possible but it depends how far ure going to keep the pc/laptop away from the cam. because it may only be able to pick up signals upto a certain radius. so ull have to ask the person b4 buying the cam how far does it sense upto. but ya that should be fine once its within the radius of where ur computer is.

EASY to do with parts from your local Frys or meinards. It may be ALOT cheaper to just buy a baby monitor from Walmart. Youre going to have to buy security cam or web cam and have broadcasting and reception at both points.
