A true atheist can still celebrate Christmas. It's just a winter holiday to enjoy with friends and family. Christ wasn't actually born in the Winter anyway. The December date was chosen to help appease the Pagans who celebrated the winter Solstice. The Christmas tree is actually a representation of the Tree of Life which is another Pagan symbol. You can have a great time at Christmas without ever worshiping Jesus.

Ok, my friend is an atheist and she celebrates Christmas, so I think that atheists DO celebrate Christmas but I am not sure. If they don't they probably just keep the extra money and use it for anything we would use money for!

Being a "true" atheist has very little to do with Xmas. Xmas is really just a arbitrary holiday set up in the middle of winter to replace old pagan winter festivals.
