i have an 96 oldsmobile 88. i got some gas and later on that night my car wouldn't stay started. i left it and the next day it started just fine so i drove it home. when i got back in it 30 mins later to go to work it did the same thing again. Now when i start it it will stay started for about 5 mins then it will cut off. It also lets out a lot of dark stinky smoke.

I think you might have got some bad gas. If you didn't get much gas, try filling the gas tank with new gas from a different station and if possible, have someone check your fuel filter.

sounds like you may have some water in the gas.

Sounds like your catalytic converter might be on it's way out.
