The egg cannot be boiled

You will not be able to boil the egg. Although that is fine answer, I am assuming it will be outside the bounds of the rules for a school project.

Since you are throwing it, you will want to reduce the amount of air friction as much as possible. Thus you will be looking at a round, or bullet shaped object, and you will want substantial weight so that the percentage of air friction is smaller compared to the force of throwing.

My suggestion would be to either make a drinking straw substructure and paper mache around the outside, or get a softball, and empty out the contents. The softball will probably be the best choice so I will concentrate on that.

Take your softball, and unstitch half of the ball (only half, you will need the structure.
Empty out the contents (sometimes this is difficult and may require some tools.
Get a good measurement of the inside of the softball since you will need to insert your substructure inside.

You will want to create a geodesic structure that creates a pocket for the egg and an outer structure that just fits inside the softball. You can build this by cutting drinking straws and inserting the end inside each other. Do Not Glue, since you want the staws to move to absorb the shock.

You will then insert the egg provided by your teacher, then use duct tape to tape your ball together good and tight.

Throw as far as you want.

You can also add a little more protection by using spray foam insulation inside your softball after you have inserted the substructure. Spray with a small amount of expanding insulation foam (you do not want too much foam). Wait for it to work and dry. Then carve out a place for the egg, and keep some of the remains to re-pack before you duct tape the ball together.

How you throw is just as important. If you use a lower trajectory than a higher one then there will be less direct impact with the ground. The ball will roll more and less impact force will be applied to the egg.

Have fun.

Try throwing it along with the Hen (that is, before the Hen actually lays it) ☺
