I got a job in March, my first job, working at Subway. I told him that I would need 2 weeks off at the end of April, so I was working until about this time last month. I was supposed to call him around the 30th of April to tell him when I was going to be working again but didn't get back to him until the 4th of May. And I haven't heard from him since. He kind of gives us screwy hours and its not consistent, like somedays I'll work 6 days a week others he'll have me working one or two. This lady had 37 hrs one week and 19 the next. SO I don't know what to do, I feel like I should at least go talk to him. But I don't know if I should quit, because I would like a steady income you know. And I'm going to be out for another 3 weeks to a month starting the 20th of June. My mom's friend's son also is offering me a job as a waitress. WHat should I do?

ask yourself if you really want the job but as a manager I can see where your schedule would conflict with mine

If you have screwy demands (5 weeks + off in 3 months) then you have to sometimes put up with screwy hours. Talk to your manager either way and let him know your concerns and demands.

Go for the waitress job!
Even if you went back to Subway it sounds like your boss there is messing people about and it sounds like people only get on there if he likes them, not if they are good workers or an asset to the company?
Your mum's friend sounds like a much better employer, because, lets face it, she wouldnt offer her friend's daughter a job is she was going to mess them about.

Don't be afraid to take a step forward. You owe very little in terms of loyalty to your present employer.
