Multiply it together. FOIL (First Inner Outer Last)
(x+1)(2x+3)
2x^2+3x+2x+3
2x^2+5x+3

Another way I learned to do it is in a box. imagine that theres a line under the 2x +3 and on the right of the x+1.
      2x        +3
  x   2x^2   +3x
+1   +2x     +3
You take this stuff and combine the like terms.
So you get 2x^2 + 5x + 3

Hope this helps [[:

Use the "FOIL" method
First x * 2x = 2x^2
outside x * 3 = 3x
inside 1 * 2x = 2x
last 1 * 3 = 3
add them together so
2x ^2 +3x +2x +3 =
2x^2 +5x+ 3

To multiply, FOIL

First 2x*x
Outside x*3
Inside 1*2x
Last 1*3

Add them

2x^2 +3x +2x +3

2x^2 +5x +3

The acronym "FOIL" is helpful. Multiply, the first, outer, inner, and last terms and then add them all together.

First: x and 2x. Multiplied together is 2x^2.
Outer: x and 3. Multiplied together is 3x.
Inner: 1 and 2x. Multipled together is 2x.
Last: 1 and 3. Multipled together is 3.

Add them all together:
2x^2 + 3x + 2x + 3
= 2x^2 + 5x + 3
