The code word used by the allies was Operation Overlord. the term D-Day is military parlance for the specific day of any invasion (and H-Hour the hour in which it begins) but it modern vernacular it refers specifically to June 6, 1944, the allied invasion of Normady (presumably because it was the largest such operation of all time).
