CaO + H2O = Ca(OH)2
CO2 + H2O = H2CO3
K2O + H2O = 2 KOH

Remember this: Metallic oxides produce metallic hydroxides when reacting with water.

CaO + H2O --> Ca(OH)2 (Ca is metal)
K2O + H2O --> 2 KOH (K is metal)

Nonmetallic oxides produce and acid when reacting with water.

CO2 + H2O --> H2CO3 (C is nonmetal)
