The worst moment was the Bucky Dent home run in the 1978 one game playoff that helped put the Yankees in the World Series. We will agree with the Arod/Varitek brawl as being one of the best, but of course the 2004 ALCS Red Sox win is the best of all.

Giants vs. Dodgers hasn't been a serious rivalry since about 1966, because in order for a rivalry to stay fresh, BOTH teams have to be good at the same time. Usally, one is good and the other isn't, so the rivalry is stale. Same with Cubs vs. Cardinals. The same was true with Yankees vs. Red Sox: From 1951 or so to 1972, there was no rivalry, because first the Yankees ruled and the Sox stunk, and then the Yanks fell apart and the Sox had their 1967 "Impossible Dream." It was only in the early Seventies, when both teams started getting better, that the rivalry was reborn. With a few seasonal exceptions, it's remained strong since, and no other rivalry in sports can touch it.

For Sox Fans it's when the Red Sox came back from a 3-0 defecit in the playoffs to beat the Yankees to advance to the World Series. For Yankees fans, it's 1978 when Bucky F. Dent hit the homerun to win the playoff game after the regular season ended in a tie.

As a non-fan of either team, here is mine:
1. Bucky Dent's improbable homer in the extra game 1978.
2. Billy Martin and Reggie Jackson drama in the dugout at Fenway.
3. The Red Sox miraculous comeback victory in the ALCS.
4. Pedro/Zimmer wrestling match.
5. Aaron Boone's ninth inning homer.
6. Ted Williams hitting .406 the same season DiMaggio had 56 game hitting streak.

What was said that caused the fight between Varitek and A Rod. A Rod accused Arroyo of hitting him intentionally. Tek said. "We don't throw at .240 hitters, shut the F**K up and take your base." Or it could be any blown save Mariano has recorded against the Sox.

Mueller taking Rivera deep to complete a comeback at Fenway, turning what was at one point a 9-4 deficit into a grand 11-10 victory. Box: http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/2004/B07240BOS2004.htm

For a fan of neither team (like myself), there is nothing better than seeing replays of Zimmer going after Pedro...still hilarious.
