Guns and Roses were far more interesting songwriters. In fact, Axl always cited Elton John as his "Classical music" in terms of his songwriting influences. Look at songs like November Rain and Sweet Child of mine for the influence!
Plus, Slash was the Keith Richards of that band.
Motley was fun, but didn't have nearly the depth, IMHO.

GnR. But I had the priviledge of seeing the Crue when their opeing act was GnR. No one knew who GnR was. Kind ironic that they would be a mega band a year later.
