Guitar World did an article comparing Bachand and Donais, of Shadows Fall, to the teams of Metallica's Hetfield/Hammett, and Megadeth's Mustaine/Friedman, and Slayer's King/Hanneman
I agree. And I'm also totally impressed with Chad Ginsburg's work in his band CKY...his solo's really remind me of Diamond Darrell's for some oddball reason...It's the tone he gets and the attitude he plays with...alright!!!

From the ones you have mentioned I would say Jimmy Page is by far the best guitarist with Eddie Van Halen a close second and in the newer ones it should be 1.Joe Satriani, 2. Zyke Wylde, 3. Steve Vai and perhaps you have missed out on Ritchie Blackmore of Rainbow and Deep Purple from the old ones too and not forgetting Toni Iommi of Black Sabbath living legends all of them :o) !

Avenged 7 fold,no way there music is great,there pretty good musicians but they cant shred at all!! there solos are mediocre that any beginning guitarists can do.
Zakk Wylde and Slash are some to consider that should rank up with the greats mentioned above.

Tosin Abasi of the band Reflux can shred like there is no tomorrow.
I've seen a LOT of bands, but I don't think I've ever seen or heard a guitarist that truly impressed me as much as he did.

Recordings don't do them justice. If you EVER have the chance to see them live, DO IT. They do crazy guitar and bass solos and it's seriously impressive.

I like the guy from The Darkness. I don't know many new ones that are good. I like all the old ones like Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton etc.

the guys from avenged sevenfold are really great guitar players i think one them is called synister gates or something like that but they can definitely rip a solo. there is this guitar player name rocco de lucca he does really great solos on electric and acoustic. those are the only two that come to mind for now.

Definately synyster gates of avenged sevenfold. Some of the best solos i have ever heard where from avenged sevenfold songs. Plus jack white of the white stripes is preety good.
