Circa 1876

"She's My Okie She's My Dokie She's My Annie Oakley"

For a Sunday night in Dodge, things were really hopping. A bunch of cowpokes from the Dandy Dickie Dude Ranch had come to town to blow off some steam. The LongBranch was packed to the rafters. Matt could hear all the commotion from his office and decided to pop in to make sure everything was within the law. As he came through the swinging doors, he immediately fastened his eyes on the two cowhands standing off in the near corner. To an untrained eye, they appeared to be (1) Strangers In The Night. Ahhhh, but to the eyes of Matt Dillon, U.S. Marshal, they were trouble makers. Matt walked over to them. They stopped talking when they saw him approach. The larger of the two spoke to Matt......I've got (3) Something Stupid I'd like to say, Mr. Big Man lawman." Matt gave him a cold stare....."Well, say it!"
The man, half drunk and totally crazy, jumped up on a table and shouted, "Well, I'd much rather sing it to you, Marshal......"
And with that, his buddy started playing the harmonica while he sang out these words, to a roomful of startled folks................

Matt had had enough! He yanked him down from the table and told him to get out and sober up! When the two cowpokes were finally outside, the one with the harmonica turned to his friend and said:"I guess the Marshal don't like refined music none." He buddy replied:" Oh well, 4) That`s Life ." They went down the street to the Bull'sHead, another bar in town.

After they left, things in the LongBranch got back to normal. Sam The Bartender gave Matt a beer and the piano player started up with the newest tune of the day.....

Matt was finishing up his beer when Miss Kitty approached him.(Remember now....Matt ditched her for his new girlfriend, Sunshine MacGillicutty.)
Kitty:"Hello, Matt, what's your rush?" Matt turned to his left to see his old flame standing next to him.
Matt:"'Lo, Kitty. And how are you, tonight?" Kitty still loved Matt. She longed to grab him, to rip his clothes off,to eat his face, to....Well, you get the picture!
Kitty:"I miss you ,Matt. I .........I miss you." There was an awkward moment or two of silence.....
Matt: "I don't know what to say, Kitty......Well, I guess I better leave now."

All at once Kitty started tapping her foot and clapping her hands. She yelled to the piano player...."One,two,three four, hit it!!.......

Matt nodded his head,threw a quarter in the jar on the piano and left. Kitty ran after him........"Where are you going?! Come back to me, Matt!!"
Matt:"Well, since everyone seems to be expressing themself in song this evening, I will, too:

I have met quite a bit of strangers in the night. Does that mean that it was a good year for me? Not at all. Maybe the loneliness is all in the mind...something stupid...But I doubt it. That's life, a lonely destination. All I can do is dream about the day when somebody loves me for real.
