If you just use liquid dishsoap and warm water, and wash slat by slat, then dry, they will sparkle. Here's a good tip. Afterwards put a dallop of fabric softener in some warm water, mix well, then apply to each slat. Dry again. This repells dirt and makes the dust come off much easier. Be sure and dust them once a week (I use a good feather duster on mine). You should only have to wash them once a year using this method. Good Luck it is a little tedious!

Take some heavy towels and place them on the window sill, and the floor. Then take a spray bottle of 1 cup of vinegar and the rest water, and start spraying each slat, back and front. Now take a clean cloth and wipe the slats,as you are doing this you can see if you missed any of them. Done no wetness on the floor or the widow sill.

You can buy a mini-blind clearer. Spray something like Pledge on a soft cotton cloth and rub over the slats. If they are really nasty you may have to get an old toothbrush and use soap & water.

i use hot soapy water and clean the slat by slat. be careful that you do not cut yourself! It would be easier to just take them of the mount and soak them in the tub! But if they are really bad i would just replace them.
