Because they don't freaking know the situation and think that is it. I answered a question which asked: What can't you live without? I answered: My ex. I had six thumbs down. There were some stuff between me and my ex, the answer was perhaps a downer, but i found it pretty sad because no one knew what happened. No one knew whether he died or not in an accident nor did anyone know that we probably had problems. I hate having to waste my time telling a whole story, it sickens me that people can just jump to conclusions without knowing your personal stuff.

We think of ourselves as an intelligent and clever species when for the most part we are prejudiced in one way or another and we don't seem to be willing to think outside the box. If everyone stopped and just gave a question proper consideration, by thinking what does the person really want and is the question deeper than it looks, instead we just read words and let our prejudices take over. Make no mistake we are all prejudiced by our own experiences.

Why do you generalize? isn't this called jumping to a conclusion?

Qiller, having experienced this doesn't make it a fact, it's simply called a bad experience you went through. Don't take things too personal. Good day.

Prediction is something we use all the time with language. But used to extremes it actually blocks out the message that you are supposed to compare with what you thought it might be.
