You know how when you try to put 2 magnets together and they push each other away? Same principle, an electric field is generated causing a magnetic force pushing away from each other causing the moving part to spin, doesn't matter which part has polarity it will just make it spin the other direction, simpest explanation I could come up with, hope it helps you.
