Sorry but your question is impossible to answer reliably
First of all to the person who said the Intel is better - well Intel made both the Celeron and the Pentium 3 Processors.
P3s were replaced by P4s and I think the fastest that they went up to was 1.3 GHz, Celeron continued into the P4 period and went much higher than that.
As you only know the speed of one of the CPUs it is not possible to make a comparison but if they were both rated at the same speed I would say the P3 was better as the Celeron has less cache.

If all specs are equal, no doubt that Pentium is better, since both are made by Intel, and Pentium is the better (and more expensive) processor. However, both are good, reliable processors, depending on what you need. Celeron is not an "inferior" processor, meaning it is just as reliable as a Pentium, but it operates a bit less efficiency, consequently costs less. (Intel's competitor AMD offers the Athlon vs the Duron, similar to Intel's Pentium and Celeron).

They both suck, really bad. Extremely out of date, and almost useless, in today's world. The P3 is better than the Celeron, if the Mhz are equal. Sounds like you need a new computer:

It all depends on whats the speed of the celeron is, If you have a celeron 733MHz and a pentium 3, PENTIUM 3 is goin to work faster. Celeron might work the same but its not as strong as a normal pentium. (like 3 or 4)

Celerons are a budget CPU, even though it may have a faster operating frequency, they generally have a smaller L2 Cache and slower Front Side Bus on the older models (66Mhz). If the P3 is even close to the same speed, use it.

celeron is an older CPU deisgned for older laptops which was replaced by the faster and more effiecent Centrino type.
Pentium 3 is a powerful desktop chip. The P3 will be the fastest and most powerful in general terms.
Most are being replaced now by Duo Core 2 proceesors which are actually 2 proccessors working in tandem, a bit like a multi-cylinder engine as opposed to a single cylinder engine.

I would have to say the p3, I have had one and they run well. I now have a celeron and it is very slow with not much running on it....

Well if that's the only choices you have, go with the Pentium. Celeron's are a step down from that processor. However, P4's are rather reasonably priced if your trying to be frugal.

probally the celeron, reasons being the pentium 3 processor had many problems during its short lifespan including overheating
however the celeron was introduced as a budget processor and even though your procesor is only 733mhz its a far more reliable processor than the pentium3
good luck!
