Clean drainlines stop toilet overflows. If you want to add a chemical, use an enzyme cleaner such as DrainCare by Zep. Enzyme cleaners cling to and eat organic clogs (not tree roots). Caustic cleaners eat a hole in the clog and disappear down the pipes. Enzyme cleaners are safe for all sewer systems.
