I have noticed in the Gay community(Y/A) that they use the word Troll in a demeaning way. Was is the meaning of this word? I am not gay, but my mother was. I like to answer the serious questions because I have always been taught to respect other peoples sexuality, race, and ignore things that don't affect my life or family in a direct way. I am not "green" I am 41 with 5 children and have also raised them to be open-minded. Thank you for you input

Goldwing, I know what you are saying about those people that just demean everything due to their stupidity. I got reported for asking the question "Why are people answering RICO's assinine questions?, All you are doing is affirming his need to be on here." I look at these people just to bring myself back to earth and remember that there are alot of idiotic people out there.

Troll is NOT a discriminatory word here...it is very real. There are those whose only life is writing evil crap, the questions are repeated over and over, aren't questions, designed to get a rise out of most...Trolls screen names are banned so quickly that they keep changing or varying the spelling. To determine if a troll is at work, simply click on their avatar, you will find that they are very new, usually within a day, have all but no points, and all questions and answers are derogatory. There is one troll here who has been at work for over a year. I have NO idea why people keep answering his rantings...only when he is completely ignored will he go away. Trolls are very annoying, but with time, you will learn to spot them and not even open their rantings. Often, the questions ???? are cut and past of last weeks same crap. Good luck

IMAO= In My _?_ Opinion
Troll is actually an older internet term that's been around for years. It's used to describe someone that like to go onto forums and cause trouble just to get attention. They feel safe because of the anonymity the internet often provides. A lot of places have people that actively watch for trolls and remove their accounts and delete their posts, but Y! isn't very good at watching out for them.

A troll is a person who is only asking a question, or saying something, for the sake of upsetting other users, and is not serious in what they are saying. Trolling is commonly found in places where gay people congregate, because 12 year olds think we are hilarious.

A "troll" is an old man that is hanging around gay bays, movie theaters, or the baths hoping to hook up with someone for sex. Not very appealling.

Now I'm LMAO.

LMAO means 'laughing my @ss off'.
Trolls are people who come on to forums like this and deliberately insult groups of people. It's like online stalking, harassment, and racism. There are trolls in all groups, but they are especially common here in LGBT and the Religion and Spirituality section. "Trolls" are users like kk.kjewhat.er and Doris.

As for trolls. There are people who call old or overweight men trolls just to be evil. I consider a troll do be someone who is hideous on the inside and has motives that are not correct.

LMAO laughing my *** off, sometimes preceeded by ROTF rolling on the floor. IMO - in my opinion or IMHO in my honest opinion. troll is not insulting really, it just means someone who is not genuine and fishing for something eg points or responses or is just being polemical.
