don't you form another level of government and reform your whole political system?

Or is it that you just love controversy and being divided? If that is the case then split into two nations. That's always seemed to be the issue with America right from the get go.

It may well come to that. It wouldn't be the first time for a civil war in the United States. Respect for and difference of opinion was one of the founding bases for this nation. Both parties have become dysfunctional organizations taken over by the extremists within their ranks (mob rule), and now focused primarily on the quest for increased power for themselves; almost Machiavellian. Rather than cede an inch of ground to the "enemy" (funny how we use this word when describing fellow Americans now) both would would willingly send our nation down a path of destruction and blame it on the other.

You misunderstand the reason why the system evolved into the one we have today. The two parties give voice to different opinions on a variety of government policies. It also gives voice to the minority and not just the most popular ideas. Its not about controversey, its about making sure our leaders listen to their constituents (sp) and do what is in the best interest of the country.

We had our civil war and it wasn't a democrat/republican thing then and the two parties won't cause a division now. Our republic is stronger for having two strong parties to ensure the majority doesn't just run wild over everyone else and the occasional third party brings issues to the forfront and eventually gets adopted by one of the major party. It works and shouldn't be changed.
