why were all of them so boxy and lack so much style, and the interior the depreciates so much as time goes by? i mean, in the 50's, 60's and most of the 70's had style in it, but when it comes to the 80's and 90's, they were box upon box upon box with horrendous interior design.

i own a shop and yes they was ,but you could also look at one of those cars going down the street and know what it is,with today's cars i cant usually tell one from the other anymore, they all seem to look a lot alike, but the old ones had a certain amount of class to them, they can never duplicate in the newer cars, those were big and boxy cars, but when you see one of those now at least you can tell what it is,one thing on the interiors now days is there's too much plastic in them, and it doesn't hold up very well, the old cars actually had stainless steel for interior trim, and it lasted forever, good luck hope this helps.

Simple that was the trend or style back then boxy. The older cars were solid to a certain degree. And were easy to work on and i could always fix a problem. Now you need a freaking degree to understand the owners manual -joking. if it wasn't for the gas prices give me back carbs, rear wheel drive and a big a!@ v-8 350 and up. Older cars had class and newer cars have convenience.

At least mine only has an engine computer and OBD-I, which is easier to work on. And I have no B.S. "Body module computer" and I can get a key from any locksmith, since I dont have that stupid key with a "chip" in it. I dont need antilock brakes since I already know how to drive. My boxy car looks vintage now with all the new cars on the road, it looks good slammed with whitewalls.

and hey, I dont have to take it to a dealer for any repairs, its so simple.

Cheap to build as the machines that have to be designed to stamp out boxes are cheaper and easier to build than ones with curves and actual thought put into them.

Still better than the plastic crappy interiors of todays coffins on wheels.

At least back then they still made cars out of metal.
