As far as I know, you need a car licence to drive one with reverse gear, but can drive one without reverse gear with a motorbike licence.

I'm told that there is actually a pin that can be inserted through the gearbox of the robins and regals that blocks reverse gear, allowing it to be driven on a motorbike licence.

If the Category B1 is a for a FULL licence, you can drive motor tricycles or quadricycles (3 or 4 wheeled vehicles) with an unladen weight not exceeding 550kg (1,212lbs).

The Reliant Robin comes into this classification.

It will be categorised as a Car. Usual regulations apply in that with a provisional licence you will need to be accompanied by someone with a full licence. The other person also needs three-years driving experience and be over 21 years old.

I think think it depends on if it has a reverse gear. The Bond didn't nor did the bubble cars so you could drive them with a motor cycle license but I think the robin does so I would think you need a qualified driver with you

They used to be classed as motorcycles for license category, and had to have the weight certified every year. I think/hope the regs have been tightened up by now. Have you had the sanity check?

You used to be able to drive one on a motorcycle license, but I'm not too sure now. Check out the DVLA web site.

If it's taxed, insured and MOTed- and you have someone with you who is over 21 and has had a full clean licence for three years.

Well done for saying Reliant Robin.
Why do people say it the wrong way round?
You don't say Focus Ford do you?

Trouble is..(ahem)..I don't know the answer to your question. Apologies.
