I was watching Dateline MSNBC one time and it was showing men meeting up with 13-15 year olds for sex. Why are police so vicious with catching these guys? A 13-15 year old can think for themselves, there not stupid, I am 14, though I would never meet up with an adult, 13-15 year olds should be able to make their own choices.

That is sooo true I hate it when they do that it's soooo stupid they mine as well just put u guys in diapers and give u a soother. And zoe is so not true,your not stupid he/she is stupid because if they have nothing to say then why write anything.

It isn't that people think 13-15 year olds are stupid, it is that people realize that you are at a transition period in your life. You are maturing very quickly, but many people your age do not have the mental and emotional maturity to handle things that they are very capable of getting themselves into. The online predators are a good example. These men usually claim to be the same age or a few years older than the teens they are targeting, and while I agree that many 13-15 year olds should be able to make their own choices in this case they are not making the choices, they are being manipulated by liars who have a lot more experience with the world than their targets do.
What those shows sometimes take for granted is that the audience knows what the results of these meetings turn out to be. Sometimes they are just for a fling, but often these men kidnap their victims, and teens do get killed in these situations.
I am glad you are smart and mature enough that you are cautious and will not get into that situation, but teenagers have a reputation for getting themselves into trouble because of their increasing abilities, and it is important to protect people from the more dangerous things that some people will do.

Because the 14 and 15 year olds do stupid things!!!
They claim they have a brain but they don't. They are NOT mature enough to realize the consequences they must pay for their stupidity. They only live life for the moment or the thrill and are completely oblivious of the outcomes for their actions. They are in a difficult age; not a child but not an adult. They try to act like an adult but they have no idea of the outcome of their actions; it's called RESPONSIBILITY!!!
They think that no matter what they do 'mommy and daddy' will fix it for them.
Police focus on catching these guys because they are breaking the law!!! It is considered 'Statutory Rape' and they will go to jail!!!
You say you can think for yourself and you'd never do what these kids are doing............. great! Than that means your parents did their job to raise you properly. The kids the program was focusing on, was kids who's parents do NOT care. They have no one to tell them right from wrong. Consider yourself extremely lucky!!!

Us older lot tend to be very disparaging to the younger generation of only a few years because they are seemingly so pathetic now when it comes to sex. All of a sudden they develop hormones and start falling into bed with each other. Do they care about pregnancies or STDs? I get the distinct impression that they don't. Then we get bombarded with questions on Y!A like "OMG am i preggerz?", when quite frankly we shouldn't have to put up with all that.
If you want to be all grown up and sexually active, fine. Just be ******* safe about it, and use two methods of contraception. 13-15 year olds can think for themselves? Not in my experience. They think they know it all, when really they know jack about it. They're making their own idiotic choice to be alone and vulnerable where noone knows where they are with a strange man that they're about to have sex with. Consenting, maybe - dangerous and illegal most definitely.
You do make your own choices at 13, 14 or 15, but let me tell you 9 times out of 10 you will make the wrong choice and live to regret it.

They should be able to make their own choices. Even at seventeen, I am treated no better than a retard. And it doesn't matter that i've been volunteering at a hospital for two years, or that I have a 3.75 GPA, or that I plan to go to medical school. People still treat me as if im a child. And im just, in all mental sense, not...
Does it seem fair to you that me, at seventeen, working in a hospital doing things nurses are too lazy to do, keeping a GPA of 3.75, and holding down a job as a file clerk, should be treated as if im less mature than some low life whos 26 and works at a gas station? Well according to most parents, untill I reach the magical age of, "eighteen". I am not more mature than big bob at the gas station.
And no, im not "naturally" gifted with intelligence. I was FAILING my freshman and sophmore year. So I got a job, got a tutor, and made honor role.

14 and 15 year old girls are stupid. If any of them meet a hot guy who is interested in them, all the guy has to say is "Want to have sex" and they will say yes. I never met a girl that thought different at that age. You disagree, prove me wrong! Besides, if they ARE having sex with older guys and the guy is usning protection, who cares. I mean, I don't think its 100% right but its not my concern.

They need to be treated STUPIDLY because they are STUPID. No... when they meet up with these retards they aren't thinking for themselves and they aren't being smart. These CHILDREN are minors and need to be protected. They can make their own decisions; petty ones, though... like whether or not to join the basketball team. They will be treated like an adult when they act like one. They should be supervised when they are immature and have a low enough IQ to go do something so mental.

your lack of experience proves the point you were trying to make. kids your age meet men thinking they are kids. these pedophiles dont tell these girls they are 35 year old married men. not all are 35 either. they say they are 14 and go to eastern something high school they gain trust and then wham another teenager is raped or killedtoo many teens are young stupid and careless and think they know everything when the truth is they know nothing, you dont have the life experience or knowledge to know and see danger using messenger is bad for anyone not just teens and kids i was attaked as a 22 year old woman

If you knew what was really best for you then you would know that the reason they are treated so roughly is because they mean to harm you. It is never ok for a grown man to have sex with a child! And that is just what you are at 14 whether you like it or not!

Most 13-15 year olds don't have enough life experience to make the correct decisions.Youre a child and you are being taken care of by your parents.Show some appreciation for the love and concern your parents/guardians have for you and just deal with it until you are allowed to make your own choices when you are a functioning adult taking care of yourself
