The New Orleans Saints are probable locks to make it to the NFC Championship Game for a second consecutive year. They have a solid roster from top to bottom, and the only thing that concerns me about them is their depth on defense. The backup players they have in the front seven are a bit old, but they are only backups and are veterans in this league, so that shouldn't be a reason to slow them down. They were able to add Jason David from the Superbowl Champion Indianapolis Colts. That is a big piece and is a signing that went under the radar. It should make up for the poor pass defense Fred Thomas played in the second half of the season. With Thomas relegated to nickelback duties, the Saints have an above average seconday. Don't forget the signing of Bengals safety Kevin Kaesviharn, who had a very good season last year. He should provide a lot of help for Josh Bullocks out there in pass defense. Roman Harper and Jay Bellamy are sluggish players at this point in their careers, and it showed in pass coverage last year with the Saints getting burned over the top. They already have a good pass rush, and are very capable of stopping the run. Should they make it to the NFC Championship, I think the only teams that have a chance to beat them are the Eagles, Bears, and maybe the Panthers. They are going to be the best team in the NFC in all likelihood since the Bears have already lost Thomas Jones and are probably losing All-Pro LB Lance Briggs in the near future via trade or holdout. They can probably make it to the Superbowl this year, but they probably will not beat the AFC elite. They have lost to the Ravens, Patriots, and Colts in each of their last meetings with those teams. In my opinion, the Saints are more likely to beat the Chargers or Colts than the Patriots or Ravens. Just based on their style of play, the Saints will probably not win a game in which they are held to 13 or 14 points, which is how the Patriots and Ravens have been winning the past few years. I see them going somewhere along the lines of 12-4, with an NFC Championship Title. They are about two or three years away from being a dominant team year in and year out.

Even though I don't think Bress will have the year he had last season, I love the Saints offense. They're exciting, original, and fun to watch. Their secondary is weak though, and most chapionship teams can defend the long pass.

You also have to look at the teams they're up against in their division and conference. Making the playoffs in the NFC South is always tough against Carolina, and you never know about Atlanta. Once you get into the playoffs, they have to contend with Philadelphia and Chicago, plus whoever gets hot.

If you're taking bets and the wager is New Orleans against the field, I'm taking the field. But the Saints are as good a guess as any as to who wins the NFC.

The offense is very good... and can compete with any team in the league

But the defense is just mediocre... Since they only added Usama Young (3rd round cornerback) I'm not seeing the defense get any better

I think they will definetely make the playoffs

But will fall just short like last year due to the defense

If they can keep that offense in tact and then have a good draft and free agency next year... I can see superbowl, but as of right now

They can't compete with the AFC even if they do make the Superbowl

In paper they are better than the team that lost the NFC championship.

They filled their two biggest needs in the draft with Robert Meachem and Usama Young. David Jones could be the small school steal of the draft, like was Colston last season.

Olindo Mare replaces aging John Carney.

But I expect a more competitive NFC South. Atlanta, Carolina and even Tampa Bay should be better.

The calendar is definitely harder, it includes trips to Indianapolis and Chicago.

This will be a tough team with good chances, so we will see how they handle the much higher expectations and how far they can go.

Saints made some improvments with thier D this year and still have the offence to make it to the playoffs. In the NFC anything is possible and they can make it to the Super Bowl. I myself wouldnt put money on it but they can. They wont win it though.

there a good team with a good coach but the superbowl is kinda much for a team that is relatively new and has questionable chemistry. last year there only problem was defence and they didn make any attempts to fix it up in the offseason. they also lost there veteran joe horn so now they need another good reciver maybe they should have got ke shwane but they didnt. they will probably make the playoffs but the super bowl might be to much for em

yes i think the saints are good enough to go to the SB but they have to work hard. they have a very well balanced offense and a good defense. even though joe horn is gone i feel marques colsten will step in and be the go to guy on the offense. brees luckily will have both bush and deuce at back which should help alot.i think they will be a good team this year and will make it to the SB. they are my fantasy team for the NFC.

Sure they could.
If they could get to the NFC championship last year, there is no reason they can't get to the Super Bowl.
Winning the Super Bowl will be extremely hard, because either the Pats, Colts or Chargers will be waiting there for them.
But anything can happened.

I don't see it. The NFC is weak and wide open, so they could get to the NFC title and maybe even win the NFC, but they wouldn't be able to beat the AFC champs.
