The 'world' seems quite a bit more tolerant and enlightened than you obviously give Christians credit for dear. Christianity does not give us the obligation to strike out against anything or anyone who might possibly disagree with what we perceive to be the truth of our religion. I believe that most Christians are a lot more broad minded than that. I believe that as human beings, we can take a lot of information, digest it, and reach a conclusion on our own, without forming a mob and burning books. I don't think we even have to nail Dan Brown to a hypothetical cross. Personally, I like to look at alternatives and open my mind a bit.

The definition of fiction is not true. I think the better question would be why did Christians get so upset about a fictional book. Seriously...that's kind of strange. Makes me wonder if there could be a smidgen of truth to the premise. Have you read a book called Holy Blood Holy Grail? Same premise, but it is a non-fiction book, that means it is truth. In that book, there are many facts, figures, historical information given to support the theory that Jesus was a mortal man, that Mary Magdalene was his wife, and that they had children. It also contains information on where his decedents are today, and that they know who and what they are. Very interesting reading. So why don't the Christians get all up in arms about this book? It didn't sell nearly as well, maybe that is why, whereas the DaVinci Code was huge, and a movie. Who can tell about Christians, anyway? They get upset about the smallest things.

It really gets tedious with everyone claiming that the Da Vinci Code is destroying Christian faith...

The Da Vinici Code was a FICTIONAL book. As a piece of FICTIONAL work it should not have ANY influence upon the Christian Faith.

Far to much has been created by the churches in trying to defend traditional beliefs, because of this book. There was no need to do that. The Book Is FICTION!

The Da Vinci code is FICTION... and so is a lot of what Christians say is in the Bible. The weird fact that people are taking The Da Vinci Code as real is actually frightening because what other nonsense will they believe?

The book was fiction. It didn't imply to be anything but. When christians (especially catholics) raised a disproportional fuss as they often do, it gave the book and movie millions of dollars of free publicity and millions in additional book sales. Dan Brown was laughing all the way to the bank.

It is a novel. Fiction. Just like "The Last Temptation of Christ" is fiction.

I would think that that any right thinking person would tolerate it because they knew that it was a novel.
