and "I personally hate romance — it makes me feel seriously uncomfortable, and I find it unnecessary."

Unnecessary?

Wouldn't it be more authentic to say: 'I have failed at romance and love and feel locked out of it and I am deeply resigned and a upset and powerless about the whole thing"

Rio Maderia: "Just so all of you know, pleased's quote came directly from me."(...on yahoo answers) "Yes, me. And I damn sure meant what I said. My opinion of romance should be of no importance to the rest of you."

How is a comment YOU make in a public forum then switched to being "of no importance" to the people on yahoo answers reading your quote??? wha??

Rio Madeira: there is not one drop of riducule in this question and your name was not attached to the quote.

You chose to attach your name to it ( for some reason I cannot fathom) and added the idea of ridicule to a question where there was none.

Rio Madeira: " You've misrepresented what I said. I don't feel "locked out of it." I am not "powerless." Don't believe what I say? Too bad."

Maybe they actually mean it. Ever thought of that? Maybe their failure at one relationship was only a small factor in their decision. It's hardly as if they HAVE to enjoy it. Some of us weren't cut out for love the first time, and see no point in trying it again.

Just so all of you know, pleased's quote came directly from me. Yes, me. And I damn sure meant what I said. My opinion of romance should be of no importance to the rest of you.

EDIT: I mean, why do people care so much when someone makes this choice? I just said what was on my mind. I don't think it should be held up for ridicule.

EDIT: Yes, there is. You've misrepresented what I said. I don't feel "locked out of it." I am not "powerless." Don't believe what I say? Too bad.

EDIT: You were talking about all the women who feel the same way I do. I attached my name so the answerers here would know that I'm not an "immature 14-year-old," as I'm sure YOU already knew.

To one who listens! As for your stand on romance, what difference does it make when you can get straight what you are after instead of beating the bush around!

they could have dated the wrong guys and haven't realized it, so they beat themselves up and end up bitter, instead of letting it go as a bad relationship and nothing to ruin their lives over.

Girls say this to cover up and or hide their pain. I like your idea and I also like mine, which is "oh well, time to move on."
