I see some mixed answers so far, I am currently a waitress at a 5 diamond resort and we serve with the left hand to the guest on the left. We clear with the right on the right. Making sure to walk in the correct direction also. It can be very complicated. Serve all beverages on the right with the right hand.

I think if the waitress is right-handed, she would serve from the right so you don't get an elbow in the face when she puts your plate down in front of you with her right hand.
The same would apply to a male waiter!
A left-handed person might better serve from the left. But, I imagine protocol is to favor the right-handed person so everyone has to do it the same way.

Yes. You serve from the right . The reason you serve from the right is because generally the adult male always sets in that position and you should always start with him. Thats not to sound sexist but it is proper ettiquete. the other reason you should always serve from the right is because that is how you should take the order so that you can remember which person ordered what.

Yes it matters you serve food(bread plate, main dish, salad plate)from the right and drinks(soups drinks) from the left.

in a fancy resturant they do. and only with thier right hand. but these days it doesnt matter usually.
