1. Decide where you want to go, and where NOT. Travelling takes about a day (with packing/travel/finding hotel/unpacking), and you only have two weeks. Don't want to spend them all travelling.

2. If you're going with your family, I suppose you will get a car. Cool. Do two or three countries.

3. Do not worry about hotels and hostels. Stay on the beaten track and hostels will find you.
You can save money if you buy a tent and a camping-guide. Even if you ditch the tent afterwards, it's still cheaper than hotels.

4. In France there are many 25-30 euro/night hotels by the motorways. Get there on time, they fill up quickly on Friday's. The name is 'Formula One' but there are others.
Possibly the same exists in Germany.

5. Czech is close to Germany. Nice to go, cheap, and outside Prague it's not too touristy.

you're working particularly tight devoid of wiggle room for ignored/not on time connections, or the skill to truthfully see something of a few of those cities. in my view i could stay longer in some places, and not try to variety so some distance around, shuttle will particularly decrease into some time. in many cities, they close for quite a few hours in the direction of the day, so which you consume lunch & take a seat. in case you particularly desire to easily run via each and every city, pass forward, yet i think of you're particularly short-changing your self. I did approximately this in 3 months. There are good issues to confirm in PAris (Fontainbleu, Versaille) & London (Blenheim Palace the V & A museum etc) that are exterior the city. In a million month in London I nonetheless did not see each and every thing i wanted. returned, i beg: decelerate.
