I personnaly don't care if I EVER get another Best Answer. I'm not sure I want that Orange Box, tagging around my cute, adorable face!!

I don't know if the orange badge has anything to do with Best Answers received. I usually pick the funniest answer or the most creative answer or the one that I most agree with for factual stuff. I never pick randomly. If I am torn between two great answers and one of the people has never gotten a best answer or has only a few I might pick them to give them some encouragement. If the answers are all equally good and nothing stands out I might choose someone I know.( if I can't really see one that is clearly best). Good question.

Hey! I don't like the orange box either, but just like Freedom of speech, or lack thereof on Yahoo!, you don't get a choice. All the orange box means, is that you answered a large amount of questions on a subject. It doesn't mean you're particularly smart, or got a bunch of best answers. I woke up one morning, got on pc, then Yahoo!, and there was the orange box. I said to myself, wtf is that? Yahoo! is not going to manipulate me, to give me a false smile, and think I'm great, so I keep using their forum. I use the forum simply because I get some joy out of telling Libs how wrong they are. Fun, aint it? I would say more about the orange box, but then I really would be violating tos.

I choose the best answer. That's the point, isn't it? To me, it's usually the one that is most informative, or the one who understood the question the most.

If it's a factual question, I choose the one that's first with all or most correct answers. If it's an opinionated question I choose the one that's most along my line of thinking. If it's a random type of question, I pick the answer that most touches my heart. Sometimes I am forced (because answers are so close) to leave it up to voting. But I always thank the ones who answered for their efforts. A very few times (thankfully) I have a few of my own comments for an answerer.

I am serious about why I am here.
None of the 4 above fit me.
I treasure and am very appreciative of every best answer I receive.
As for the orange box, I don't want that. It would clash with my avatar.

1.The ones that make me laugh out loud
2. The ones who put SOME thought into their answer
3. The ones who are serious and would really like to help
I have asked different types of questions so one answer type just won't work

I will give best answer if the answer will make me second guess my own views, because that is quiet an accomplishment. also if the answer is based on facts and not rumor. and I will give best answer if the answer is just down right funny, doesn't matter if I agree with it , I Always love a good laugh.

I have only awarded ten best answers and I tried to give them to the first one who actually answered the question.
My second choice would be to one who offered the light side as we can always use a good chuckle.
