Motor stored in down position so no water sat in it. Fuel got left hooked up so it had fuel in it. Motor has less than 200 hours.

Start with fresh gas in the tank and clean out any old gas in the carb bowl if you can...always use a product like Stabil when storing a motor for long periods--it will keep the gas from varnishing inside the carb. Pull the plugs and squirt a little bit of oil into the hole to help lube the cylinders when first starting. And check the plugs for wear or fouling, replace them if necessary since they're off anyway. Get a can of carb cleaner at a parts store and spray inside the throat of the carb to clean off any residue or gunk. Hook up your water to the inlets on the motor and it should start fairly easily. You may have to pull the plugs and put a teaspoon of gas into the cylinders if the priming doesn't get it going right away...change oil and put some fuel system cleaner in the gas tank too.

Drain the old fuel and check the oil. Put new fuel in and if it starts let it run a while before taking it out on the lake.

Assuming it was running when you last shut it down, and you did nothing to it since then, it should start right up. If not, new gas should do the trick. No need to pull plugs/drain oil etc...unless it doesn't run.

remove and clean the carb./carbs. very well. if it's a two stroke the only lubrication the engine gets is the fuel/oil through the jets. if one jet is partially stopped up, you can ruin an engine.
