Homophobia usually is a result of ignorance of facts and lack of proper education, sometimes coupled with religious bigotry. But sometimes it is the 'educated' homophobe that is rather difficult to explain.

The main page shows the most recent but I'll go looking. There are a few sections that I regularly take a look at to see what I can answer and be helpful with. If I come in this section and see hateful remarks then I'll fire up but I also browse through the etiquette, dogs and religion & spirituality sections. I have a confession to make though: this is always my first "port of call"

well, despite the 'gay agenda's' best efforts we still have homophobia as long as we have these types of people:
the types that belong to a religion that teaches same sex is an evil thing
the rush limbaugh types that think every minority is out to steal their stuff(white guys have it so rough)
the idiots ones who think all gays are child molestors
and of course self--hating lgbts

If someone is "homophobic", they have an irrational fear of gay people. They need help and understanding, not your anger at them.
Yes, GLBT's are trying to hurt people because they are fighting for special "group rights", which don't exist. Only individual rights exist.

Well people do love to use religion as some sort of argument, not that it means anything nowadays.

Because they are bigots and have to make fun at the expense of others to make themselves feel better.
