Every dryer is issued a sock monster. It's written in stone somewhere.
No one knows for sure what they look like as no sighting has ever been found. Nor has anyone found where the sock monster hides all the socks.
I do think the sock monster gets less hungry when the kids move out of the house.

sweet mary and joseph!!! you must act quickly!
this is what you must do -
1) when placing socks in the dryer, chant the following "begon demon of socks, to a place where there is no locks, where it is cold and wet..."
2) use only rose scented fabric softner - a little known fact is that the sockus monsterus (scientific name) is highly allergic to roses.
3) should the above not work, a exorcism must take place. please note, trained ministers from the Shepherd and Socks parish are the only ones trained in this kind of ritual. no civillian has ever seen it, however some have said that the ceremony includes two bottles of heinz ketchup, a tin of pringles, holy water from the Wishywashy river and a goat named boris.
these ministers can be contacted at www.webanishsockdemonsintothepitsofhellwheretheybelongforonlytwohundredbucks.com

What you should do is try to figure out how to look between the drum and the container for both the washer and dryer. That is where the monsters live, and the socks will be there.

initially, static electricity reasons some, (no longer all) and on no account an same pair, to vibrate fiercely after being placed in the washer or dryer. This vibration transforms those socks into an agitated state the place the molecules separate, coming up a clean difficulty. there is not any formal call for this place, it is definitely greater of a difficulty than a area. those socks proceed to be in this state till its matching substantial different, placed someplace else in the homestead, in lots of circumstances a sock drawer, ultimately disappears. the right 2d the matching sock disappears, the sock till now held in the clean difficulty is tranferred to the sock drawer and returns to its good difficulty. So the authentic secret is why and what, happens to the unrivaled sock after its substantial different vibrates into the suspended difficulty. there's a nicely-liked theory that the vibrating sock by some skill notifies the "good-state" sock to vanish. yet as much as now, there is not any specific time-physique between the time whilst the unique sock vibrates into transparency and whilst the the rest sock disappears. from time to time, months will pass earlier the solid-state sock disappears, and the clean sock transports to the sock drawer. one element's for specific, the pair of socks isn't re-united.

Sock monsters are indeed evil and insidious - they have found their way into households and laundromats alike. They show no mercy and their prisoners are rarely, if ever, seen again.
They do however seem to have an aversion to clothespins. You may want to consider using the clip style ones to secure your socks in pairs as you throw them into the dryer. This method, although sometimes successful, is not fool proof. I should also warn you that it takes great courage and perseverance to engage in battle with the dreaded sock monster - so to you I say - Godspeed!

sock monsters are a common misunderstanding of quantum physics. see, the dryer actually spins fast enough to create a trans-dimensional portal. this portal leads to a parallel universe in which there are no right-footed socks. the inhabitants of this world are the ones taking all of our right socks. now you know.

It's not really a sock monster, they just go into a different dimension.
