It depends how bad you think it is, if you are really certain it is broken and its painful then im afraid going to hospital is the best thing.

You might have just bruised it badly; if there is deep colour arounf the injury, like dark blue or black, it could be broken. To be sure , you would need an x ray. Depending on the location of the break, you probably won't need it in plaster - they do a thing called "buddy" strapping, where your toe is splinted against the next toe with strapping, to keep it immobile.

No point in guessing though. If it is a break, and you ignore it, it will heal eventually, but you may well be left with a crooked toes, because it set unevenly, and that will cause you misery when you get older.

Don't p**s around with your health.
When you lose it, it's gone.

Can you move it? If so tape it to the toe next to it if not you might need to get it set. I broke my big toe and left it to heal which it did after a surprisingly long time [ 2 years before it stopped hurting] Good luck.

hi broken toes do hurt especially the big toe so when i broke mine i went to the doctor and he told me it was broken and the only thing i could do for it was wear an ace bandage on your toe and wearing sandals it was really a waste of time and money to go get an xray did u know just to get an Xray i had to wait 3 FLIPPIN hours so DONT GO TO THE DOCTOR because their really is nothing they can do for it wear open toed shoes i mean it's hot out side any way and wear a little ace bandage

toes normally heal by themselves cos theres nothing much to do except maybe a buddy splint with the next toe so that u dont move it too much. if it looks distorted, it might be dislocated (which would need for it to be re-located back by a doctor). if it was me, i would watch it for a few days, if the swelling goes down, all is well! if not... go see a&e where they can do xrays.

My advice would be to chew it off immediately before it goes septic. If you are not flexible enough to chew it off yourself ask a friend or neighbour to do it for you. If that fails you could use sandpaper but this takes a while. Don`t just leave it or you could end up as a disabled spastic dribbling on the post office counter while waiting for your lazy spongers benefit.

As long as it looks straight it'll be fine but try to wear shoes that don't press on it or it'll heal out of shape and cause problems later on .

If you think you may have broken it ,it would be double the size it would normally be and you would feel nauseous it would also look purple and blue. Go and get the doctor to double check, soon.

Get an X-ray ... if it's fractured, but not displaced, it can just be taped for stabilization. If the bone is displaced, it needs to be set, then taped. They do not cast toes.
