My goldfish, that I got yesterday at a fair, has been acting crazy.
whenever I come near it, he goes crazy and then he just sits there at the bottom motionless, he did this 2 times today. And his frequent spot was on the bottom (he has no buddy). What the heck is going on?

He sits at the bottom motionlessly until I come near it. He eats, he does everything normal but he just sits at the bottom. Im not an expert with fish at all. I just feed him once in the morning, and once at night.
I only had him for one day, and hes just acting funny. My mom says he needs a filter and gravel and stuff, but I dont think hes gonna make it that long to see that happen. Hes just happens to be in a fishbowl because thats the cheapest thing I can afford. Its big enough for him, since hes a single. He doesnt show any moving germs, he goes to the bathroom, he goes to sleep and takes naps. He appears to be fine, except that he sits at the bottom. What to do?!

Oh, I have low self-esteem and I always believe for the worst.

Also, hes in Deer Park/Poland Spring water. Not tap.

If you believe the worst then you have some really ripe answers here LOL...

Your fish is just settling in to it's new home is all. It's uncomfortable and easily frightened. Give it a few days and it will settle right in and be comfortable and act normally.

Your mom is right, it needs a reasonable sized tank ( 10 gallons or larger) and a filter. It will be much happier and much more comfortable that way.

I had this same issue. A week ago I got a goldfish at my work carnival. I've had carnival fish before and they all act the same. They are very skittish when you first get them. I had him in a 1/2 gallon glass bowl with gravel in it and distilled bottled water. He was just sitting on the bottom and swam away whenever I came near, so the next day I went and bought a fish from the petstore. Once I put him in the bowl, the carnival fish seemed a lot more active and happy. A week later I spent 30 dollars on a 2.5 gallon aquarium kit with a filter. The two are doing much better. I'd suggest you attempt to do this.

Its probibly been traumatised from all the noise and handiling at the fair, And you probibly only have it in a one gallon bowl.
Goldfish given away as prizes are usualy very stressed jue to been traveled about on transport alot, Usualy crowded in small coolers and not fed often anough. You should always get fish from aquarium shops if possible

try feeding it.. i think its hungry.
from your additional details... i strongly think u should listen to magicman.. he is right about your fish..
gold fish can grow big very fast.. and a bowl is really too small for it.. normally those kept in the bowl will not live long.. and further more.. they eat a lots and **** a lots too.. making the tank dirty fast, they can't do without a good filter system, u must provide a good filter system as well as a big enough tank. u can check with your pet shop what is needed for your gold fish... they are really good pets to keep..keep them for sometimes and they will kiss your finger when u put them into the tank..(at feeding times before u give them their food) well have fun.

here some video show u some example of a fish tank setup and etc...

please note u don't need a professional plump/filter system.

please note the small and simple filter system..
there is lots of different type of filter system.. check with the pet owner for a cheaper and good one.

here's some more information i found, on how and what fishes to keep for first timer..incase u decided to keep other fishes as well.

We need more information. What is your fish kept in, did you dechlorinate the water if you got it from the tap, and is there anything strange external?

It sounds like he is stressed from the fair.

Fair goldfish don't usually live very long.

Well, it is probly gone crazy. Have you seen the way people treat the fish. Just, throw them around. It is probaly sick. I don't think there's any way to save it. I'm sorry. It may live but fair fish aren't very reliable. They always die, and are sick.
