Usually when someone is taunting another person, they are doing it to make themselves appear stronger, whether to themselves or their peers. They feel acceptance, because the other person is being rejected in a way.

A lot of our behaviors are things we learned from someone else. Sometimes the meanest people are the ones that were the most recently been mistreated themselves. For example, they say that the new sophomores are more cruel that upperclassmen when hazing the new freshmen. With these ideas in mind, consider the possibility that the person who is taunting may have recently been a victim of taunting.

A person who taunts another person, the taunter is either angry or is suffering from a lack of self-esteem.
I have to admit, I taunted a former supervisor for about 5.5 years after I quit. The reason being, she called me at my house and informed me that I better watch my back because she had a loaded gun with my name on it. The reason for this threat was because I told this ***** to "Take this job and shove up her a$$." Making a whooping $2.00/ hr because of a disability wouldn't you? When I did quit, after working this ignorant ***** for about 3-4 weeks, 15-20 other of my former co-workers quit this job with-in an hour after I quit. In this case, revenge was ever-so-sweet.
