I suppose there are things going on under the surface that you cant see,and it depends what context, how you look at it,caus some people might look at me and think I have it all ,compared to them, strangely enough.
compared to a homeless person, then I could say I have a lot.I could go on and on!

You've really said it all. The greener grass is always somewhere else. After all when you think about it, all the time and money in the world cannot make us full. There are just too many things to do, see and try. It would be impossible to experience it all. Most people realize this and settle for what they can achieve, but even those with seemingly everything are still down there with the rest of us average folks regarding lack of time, lack of challenges and lack of new toys.

I think maybe that's because of the fear of looseing the material things that they have. Constant striving to achieve success and wealth can be a big strain.I have travelled extensively and the people who seem to be the happiest [or at least the smiliest and easy to laugh] often have nothing, apart from family. The simple things in life can bring the greatest happiness. But hey who would say no to a few million even if they were told it might make them unhappy, I wouldn't for one ! Good luck.

Because material things can't make you happy and neither can money. They can bring you happiness for a short time while you are enjoying spending and the feeling of success, but soon that's not enough anymore. A person can have everything but still be unhappy with themselves, their lives, their marriage. You never know what another person is going through.

That's just it...unfortunately i think it is just pure greed always want more than the next person, but if they just stopped for a moment and learn to appreciate there is a whole lot more to life than possessions..money etc.. then but only then they may start to realise love, family, and friends are the most important thing in life.

Find those who seem happy... and you will see a common denomination!
If i could say.... happiness is present when....
that person... or couple.... stop caring about what other's think! Some people of HAVE everything, not because of what other's will think of them.
Whether they HAVE IT ALL! or
if
So some people buy the nice car, not because they like driving nice cars... but because they know people are looking at them... for driving a nice car.
Are they happy? Not likely.
But... i suppose as we all get older... we GROW out of that... hopefully sooner than later.
But... for me.... i try to find out what true happiness is. It isn't about driving that nice car... its about sharing. Sharing your wealth... dinners... socializing... helping others... whenever you can!
Not flaunting what you have but... sharing what you have.
does that make any sense?
good luck

Most people behave the way they were taught. This is often different from what they want in their hearts.
Through meditation, you can become more aware of what is right for you. In my opinion, this is the only way you can be truly happy.
The winners in the game of life, are not those who have the most toys, but those who are at peace, and without regrets when death approaches

I like that you used the word "SEEM". It's possible they are happy, but don't want others to be too envious, so they put on an unhappy facade? Just something different to think about. Also, why can people who do not have everything seem unhappy too? Seems that hapiness has nothing to do with material completeness .

someone who would actually strive to get and have everything will never be satisfied..this is just the compulsion of greed..even if you think you have it all, ther can always be someone right behind u who almost has just as much, then ull need more to remain on top...
and no-one on this earth has everything, otherwise everyone else would have nothing!

A lot of answers, all of them mentioning that there's a lack of that one something! It took me very long to realise that whatever is missing can only be filled with faith... there's nothing else that a human being needs in order to be happy but plain simple faith in God.
