The whole life on earth as we see it cannot exist without sunlight, which is the primary source of energy. Even today's fossil fuels were living creatures (plants and animals) at one time and they were alive at that time only because of sunlight.

Sunlight can be used for growth, maintenance and for destruction. It can be used for growing plants, maintaining our population through rice and other food crops and destroys bacteria and virus in the environment.
