Ok, we all agree, guns should be banned completely. Let's just pass another law. I'm sure all the griminals and hot heads who believe only they have the right to drive our highways or cut in at the head of the line. will automatically transform into caring selfless individuals. Here's another possibility. Tomorrow morning we all might awake as true christians who obey the Ten Commandments right to the letter. Ya, right. Ok, our answers to this problem are growing few in number. We can execute every one of them who are convicted on hard evidence but that would be inhumane. It's ok for them to commit unspeakably horrible, torturous acts upon others but after all those who commit such acts do have their rights, more rights than their victims. Either execute or build more and more and more prisons and tax the people more and more and more to provide rooms for each, health care, education and college enducation, dental, trailers for spousal overnight stays.

No, we don't all agree. I don't believe in banning guns at all.

There is no solution to violent crime - we're animals and our brains aren't factory made with warranties attached. Has nothing to do with religion or lack thereof.

The more people live in close proximity to one another the more violent crime there will be. As cities grow - so does crime. Killing violent offenders isn't a solution - it's reducing yourself to their level.

The Solution To The Whole Crime Problem:

1. Stop building prisons.
2. Stop hiring to work in the prisons.
3. Add several execution chambers to each prison.
4. When a new inmate comes in the front door, a prisoner is executed to make room for the new comer.
5. The inmate to be executed will be selected by danger that he poses to society.
6. Last, but most importantly. Keep the media completely away from this process...They cause controversy and turmoil.

In a short while, prisoners on the inside will be screaming to the outside world to stop crime.

Unfortunately, from time to time an innocent person will fall victim to this process but it happens in the name of tranquility of the United States.

We did not design the Universe and we are not running it. [Thanks to R. Buckminster Fuller.]

God, or evolution if you prefer, has had thousands of generations of humanity within which to eliminate the causes of violent crime. I notice that it has not been eliminated.

From this, I must conclude that:
a) it is not going to be eliminated, and
b) it likely serves some purpose which we do not understand.

Fortunately, it is perfectly possible for a system [planet earth] to successfully serve a purpose without us having to understand that purpose. Or if we did understand it, to approve of it.

What we can do is what we naturally do anyway ... we punish the violent. It is quite reasonable to exclude them, including by force, from our societies. [This is called prison.]

It is also quite reasonable to execute them, both to prevent any future violent crimes that individual might commit and to send a message to other would be violent offenders that we will not tolerate such behavior.

As to your apparent complaints about the costs of imprisoning the guilty ... why could the system not be changed so that a convicted felon is deemed to no longer have the same rights as honest men and therefore be required to pay for all of his own fringe benefits? [Mexico, in essence, does this now, as do many second and third world countries.]

The Texas (state) constitution states "In Texas, a prisoner shall work." Texas is the only state which requires prisoners to work. The Texas state prison system is built at state expense, but all operating costs are paid for by the prisoners' labor.

Don't you think that is a better system than what the other 49 states have?

So why doesn't your [and my] state legislature adopt a similar constitutional clause and system? [Wimpy politicians??]

reformatory is to punish and rehabilitate. the situation is HOW that's achieved. the present gadget would not artwork besides because it would because of the fact inmates can “artwork the gadget”. in the event that they don’t like the respond they are given, they wait and ask the subsequent shift, or somebody else till they get the respond they want. What many many people don't comprehend there's a large share of folk in reformatory (extraordinarily the greater youthful offenders) who easily DO LIKE being locked up. they have shape to their on an huge-unfold basis existence, somebody to communicate to approximately their issues, etc. etc. etc.. in short they are “institutionalized”. Why ?? because of the fact they are receiving what they ignored out on as a toddler, a mentor, training, etc.. a large share of inmates are there because of the fact they actually have confidence they are smarter than they are certainly,, yet another share are in reformatory because of the fact it quite is merely “a cost of doing their corporation”, they’re completely attentive to the dimensions of their reformatory sentence in keeping with what crime they are committing, they comprehend the opportunities of easily being caught and convicted so,, they actually element in a collection time of “state paid trip” whilst they actually do get caught and convicted. yet another area of the situation is “generational” finally maximum all inmates get out and characteristic babies. those babies are raised however their father and mom have been “raised”,, that's ninety 9% finished loss of parenting skills.. The ex-inmates, discern had a ninety 9% finished loss of parenting skills. SO,, the present “gadget” has a outfitted in “lifetime furnish” of “interest secure practices” to proceed to function. i ought to shrink the recidivism fee right down to eight-10 % TOPS,, WITH the money now allotted to prisons. the only element that should be required is a regulation combating the ACLU from interfering with the undertaking. that's merely the top of the iceberg in reformatory reform,, the completed plan would overload the Yahoo answer’s server. playstation . some people have confidence inmates are “idiots” or stupid. Wayyyy incorrect.. Many inmates are extremely clever,, Uneducated definite,, yet nevertheless they are extremely clever. there's a extensive distinction between being an “fool” or “stupid” and being uneducated. I’ve considered many many college knowledgeable people who have been finished IDIOTS,, and stupid as a container of ROCKS..

Even if you provided a person with everyhing they needed
some people would still commit violent crimes just to get
their rocks off, in a socially unacceptable way. You could
ban guns but it won't work, the real problem is people want
to kill someone and we are quite inventive about it.you would
be amazed at the variety of lethal weapons that predate
firearms. Communities smaller than 300 members where
everyone knows eachother tend to be more peaceful
maybe therin lies a solution, no large groups of humans
permited. but how to accomplish or enforce?

We need to make the punishments more severe. Example: Someone stabs someone to death-We go ahead and stab the criminal to death. It's that simple.
