I do not have probs with constipation,I knew someone would think that, but I cannot beleive smoking would help that.read that in a magazine.
would never touch a cig,and find it hard to think there would ever be an advantage to it.

Well as a 30 yr. smoker I have never seen advantages to smoking, any advantages that were there was only my brain telling me so, I'm proud to say I'm fighting the smoking addiction as I write this I've been off cigarettes for 3 days. Now I can look at all the good advantages of being an ex smoker. I commend you for never smoking or wanting to its a BAD addiction. As for smoking to help constipation I think that is just a bunch of poopy ( to funny). Now constipation can be a nicotine withdrawal symptom.

You raise a very valid question. Too many people are willing to minimize that smoking actually DOES provide some benefits to the smoker. It makes sense when you think about it, because otherwise we'd all be masochists...blinding doing something that provides no benefits. Well, we aren't masochists, are we?
The SMART thing for a smoker to do is recognize what they are getting from the cigarettes and find an alternative to achieve that benefit. That will make it MUCH easier for them to quit.
I haven't heard of the constipation "advantage," but others that have been documented are:
- Increases attention/focus
- Improves memory/learning
- Improves alertness
- Helps the smoker relax/reduces stress
- Increases metabolism, thus helping control weight

None that I can think of and I smoked for over 30 years, so if there were any you'd think that I'd have noticed if there were any. The only thing that I did notice though was that smoking was an habit that I would happily give up if I could, which I managed to do last year.

I agree with the list of disadvantages, although there are quite a few you have missed, such as:- shortens your life, you and your clothes stink permanently, many insurance cos. now charge extra for smokers. However, on your list of advantages you state:- "Gives me a smokey breathe rather than a bad breathe." Wrong! Most smokers believe this, but if they could only smell their own breathe, they would soon see that they have permanent bad breathe. "Good social booster in some cases." Wrong! I don't know where you get this from, but smoking now is almost universally disliked. "I've become slimmer." Wrong! Smoking does not slim, though it keeps down the weight. And as for the rest, they are merely excuses to continue smoking. Take it from me, someone who had smoked on and off for 35 years, it isn't worth it.

I do not see any advantages to smoking. If you have problems with constipation, i suggest a laxative or a trip down to your doctors rather than a cigarette, or it might end up a trip down the funeral parlour quicker than you think. If you want to keep thin then diet or exercise??? What i am trying to say is that there is always a better alternative to smoking

Less interest in food, smaller babies (less owie on the output), less likelihood of boy babies (I prefer girls anyway), tension reliever, one tends to listen more rather than speak (adults dummy), less judgemental, easier going. I dont know of many obese people that smoke. Cancer gene therapy and replacement bits are well into the medical trial phase so perhaps there will be a fix on the way.
Smoking is better than drugs or alcohol as it doesnt create mind crap that makes one aggressive...more the opposite.
Smoking gives others something to whinge about and pick on...something the government CAN effect..like charging tax exhorbidantly and putting gross pics on the packets...whereas they cannot do that to the alcohol industry (because not everyone is addicted, so why put up pics of cirrhosis) or drugs which is illegal...or pics of obese people on takeaway food.

I heard it decreases your changes of getting amnesia and it might reduce your appetite. But seriously, no one should make a point to support smoking with these reasons! The advantages of quitting smoking are way more of course!

You are less likely to get Parkinson disease if you are a smoker. Parkinson’s disease (PD) is one of a few conditions in which cigarette smoking appears to decrease the risk of developing the disease, with a reduced risk of 50% among ever smokers compared to never smokers.
Another interesting thing is that smoking or some component of cigarette smoke may have a protective effect against the development of acne.

if you never smoke then do not start. there is no advantage for smoking and have tons of disadvantages, like to spend money buying it, at the end you need to spend money to see doctor because it causes illness like cancer and etc.
