It's all up to you. If you feel like you'd like to have Vista and your system meets the hardware requirements, by all means, go for it. But, if you barely meet the requirements, or you don't meet them at all, then you might want to hold off.

You can always switch back if you don't like it, right?

I also have a vista upgrade option and what i done was partioned my harddrive and dualbooted winows xp and vista so i could run either while learning vista etc.. I have also 1 gig of memory, and it does ok but you will see a minimum difference in speed and depends on what u do for as compatibility I havent really had any issues there, it can be sorta memory hungry but there is tweaks for that. but hey go for it its very simple to go back to xp. that way u can see if you like it or not i would say dual boot as i did but that could open up a whole new question of its own. but I am assuming it is vista home premium which is what i have its ok. takes some getting used too though .. good luck ..

I have Vista Premium Loaded Laptop. I say don't. Vista is very slow. it will run OK on 1GB but for speed and better performance you need 2GB with Good processor and graphics card.

And Also still there are lot of Bugs in system. Internet runs half of speed even after basic security stuff are disabled. This is big concern. I would say wait for few months.

not yet. wait until all your programs are supported by Vista. Also, vista still needs to iron out all the bugs, and those bugs come from reports from people who use vista right now.

as a general rule, you can already upgrade to vista once pirated software or cheap vista-supported computer accessories from china start showing up - but dont buy them! it only means that by that time, vista is already widely compatible and has most of the initial bugs fixed.
