That's a horrible debate topic. I'm surprised your school hasn't been sued yet

Wow, you're gonna lose this one. You can't ban someone based on sexual orientation. I see no reason to, no justifier.

What's next, kids getting taught by robots, because there's no risk of anything sexual going on ever? Give me a break.

What's the teacher gonna do wrong, teach gay? Give me a break.

If I were you, I'd refuse to debate this topic. It's nothing but a witch hunt. It's like debating why black people should be banned from teaching, or Jewish people.

So yeah, if I were you, I'd say no to it, I wouldn't go there and risk the implications of being seen as evil by my peers for putting down a minority based solely on the fact that they're a minority.

Well the first thing I would do is approach the question with a statement: if there was true separation of church and state we probably would not need this discussion. But of course that will never happen. You have religious extremists, who for the most part, refer to themselves as Christian's cramming the media venues, letting you and others in the US know that with absolute certainty a homosexual teacher will recruit your child into their lifestyle by molesting your child. Suddenly instead of viewing that sort of behavior in the context of pedophilia, it is seen as a product of same gender sexual orientation. These are the sort of stretches the religious right make and assert regularly at their pulpits on sunday, and of course if they are given "air time" such as the deceased Jerry Falwell, and Pat Robertson well they have you convinced that homosexuals will definitely molest your child, recruit your child into their "evil" lifestyle AND encourage your child to recruit others. Then there are those who believe the homosexual teacher will have subtle ways to coerce children through what they teach, books they recommend, outings they take the class on, etc. Forget the fact that every teacher in this country must submit a curriculum and adhere to it and that teachers and students are evaluated on the adherence to the curriculum and the testing results.

Similar to the military this is why homosexuals must keep their sexual orientation private in the teaching profession. It is worse with the teaching profession however because of the natural assertion that homosexuality = pedophilia in the minds of many, many, heterosexual people. So that is where I would start by pointing out that this illogical conclusion, coupled with right winged "christian" distortion.

I am reporting you for being a mindless drone doing this assignment. There is no way to help you with this argument. I think people who go on yahoo answers to ask a stupid question should be banned from the teaching profession.

Sorry but I honestly can't think of any points to argue in your favor. I guess you could say that it would make parents uncomfortable and if the students found out then they might not give him/her the respect required to teach them. I know this happened to a male gay teacher at my school once.

God I feel like arguing with myself because I can already think of a point against what I just said. I hate it when I have to think of points against my actual beliefs, I always start to feel competitive even though they're my points.

No profession should be denied because of a person's sexuality. It seems strange of you to ask homosexuals to help you support the affirmative.

If it's a quid pro quo for banning all religious fanatics and creationists from the teaching profession, it might just be a worthwhile sacrifice.
But otherwise I can't think of a single argument.
What's it got to do with anyone's teaching ability?

I am sorry, being a member of the LGBT I refuse to provide arguments on the affirmative here. Instead, speak to your school authorities about the inherent insensitivity in choosing such a topic.

Instead of writing to Yahoo answers, you should be reporting your teacher to the school board for inappropriate assignments.

I find it difficult to take this seriously, I hope you aren't paying for a class where a teacher openly engages homophobia. If its just a discussion, then why aren't you using something more appropriate?
