I see the United States as a melting pot. The distinctions should be blurred. Drawing distinctions is divisive and dangerous and serves only as a means to keep people separated. People should honor their heritages, but at the end of the day we should all be simply Americans. Anything less will cause us to lose our national identity all together and will ultimately lead to the downfall of our great republic.

Melting and melding of ethnic identities in the 19th century and early years of the 20th century created a unique American identity. Ideally, individuals now should be able to choose whether they want to live in the ethnic community of their birth, join the larger homogenized society completely, or do some of both.

Division is the nature of our political structure. Power brokers know to invoke emotions of division of the masses so they can get the money. The powers that be rile the people up thinking someone has it better or someone is going to take your stuff away from you...than you vote to empower people based on your emotional response but one thing that always holds true who ever you voted in power is feeding like a sow in the FEDERAL TROFT you paid into.

If all groups were homogenized, then you'd have something totally different than what they started out being.
