My dog got pregnant and had puppies. She had accidents on the floor. We kept one, and now he will go in the house, even after being outside for an hour. He is going to obedience school, but meanwhile my carpet doesnt smell like a bed of roses. Any suggestions for a quick fix until I replace the carpet with hardwood in the next few weeks?

How about tie the heathen outside! If he/she can't behave INSIDE, then they can stay OUTSIDE.

I don't know how much time you have but the only way to train your puppy to go outside is to take him/her out every hour to begin with. When they go outside immediately give them a treat. If they go in the house, take them to the stain, put their nose near it, say no and then immediately take them outside again. if you repeat this often enough, the dog will associate the treat with going to the bathroom outside. Slack off on the treats when they have it down pat. A puppy can only hold it's bladder a period of time. Usually it's its age plus three. Nature's Miracle is a great product to clean urine stains in your carpet and to get rid of the smell. Good luck!

hehe, i had the same problem with my dog, when she had puppies we kept one and he would come inside, go to the loo and go back outside again!!

you can get these sheets from Argos, the best way of describing them is like a big, square, flat nappy that you put on the ground where the dog always goes to the loo and the wee will be soaked up by there sheet things, look in the catalogue around the pet section!

The only way I have found is training. When you see him start to do his business, say NO in a loud stern voice. Take him out and watch him. Since he started to go, he should need to finish (outside). Then have a "potty party" for him. Use praise and a happy voice and a treat. This is how they learn to please you which is what they really want to do.
