well their are a few options as to what you can buy over the counter, but if your really trying to prevent pregnancy then I'd suggest going to your ob/gyn. You can get an implant that last for up to 5 years I'm sure the risk's are minimal, but back to your question. You can use a sponge which doesn't have to be used with spermicide, spermicides such as foam, cream, or gel. You could try a female condom.
Check this site out. It talks about all the birth control options and the information on them. Good luck

Condoms are the best over the counter contraceptive you can use. If you've not had your partner tested for STDs, I would not have sex without one. They are the best protection from pregnancy and STDs without seeing a doctor.
Were you looking "over the counter" because you don't want to use a hormonal method? If not, I would suggest going to your gynecologist and discuss getting on a hormonal birth control, which are generally 99.9% effective at preventing unwanted pregnancies, while condoms are only 85% effective at protecting unwanted pregnancies (with typical use).

Apart from regular condoms, there is also a female condom.... but so far as I know, you would have to go to the doctor for anything else. Why not go on the pill?? The doctor prescribes it, it is quickly effective, not messy and you buy it over the counter.

Would you not consider a low dose contraceptive pill like Yasmin? You could speak to your doctor about prescribing it for you. It can also help regulate your hormones.
If you really don't want to try birth control pills, then what having the coil fitted or you can try femidoms...but yes they are messy.
HTH : )

Oral contraceptives, particularly Yazmin or hormonal patches, particularly EVRA.
Before trying them you must have a healthy liver and a normal coagulation speed.
Try for a few months anyone of them, and should you have any problem, go to a doctor.
