Usually, when I was cleaning this, uh, laptop of my friend's one time, I just sprayed it down real good with the garden hose-full blast.
An' then it was cleaner, yep. Never had to clean it anymore, either.

Other than hose / tights over the nozzle of a vacuum cleaner as has already been suggested, if it's really dusty you can get compressed air in a can and use a new artists paintbrush to dust - be careful, the air is under high pressures, so don't point it at anyones face - you can get the compressed air from Maplins or some other technical supply store.

If you haven't used it before, ask the sales person to demonstrate how you could use it safely. It will essentially displace the dust and then you can use the vacuum cleaner.

Pls don't be tempted to use any other kind of aerosol - I had a call out to some idiot who used lighter fluid thinking it could do the same job as air (coz it was a gas, I suppose) - I charged them for the call out but never touched the repair (very unhealthy and expensive).

Good luck

I am using LCD/TFT cleaning gel for my laptop screen. It definately works and cleans so well, removes the dust and fingerprints etc. you can get it from any computer shop. For removing the dust between the buttons of the keyboard Im using a hair dryer, put it on the keyboard and it also works. good luck, I hope it helps.

compressed air can will blow the dust out safely and quickly. remember, compressed air is COLD so when it blows on the keys it appears to leave moisture or frost on the keys. it's not really frost or water, it's just the cold air freezes the moisture in the air naturally and it will go away in a second or two.

i find that air-in-a-can works well to get the dust out...along with whatever else is living in your keyboard.
